I’ve read some threads lately with varying opinions on boudoir photography. And it made the saying “whatever floats your boat” pop into my head. Photography is art, and art is different things to different people. It speaks to each of us in different ways. You and I will have two unique opinions if we stand and look at a Picasso painting. But that doesn’t mean that mine is right and yours wrong.
For instance, what is your definition of “erotic”? In the eight years that Casual Elegance Photography has been in business, we’ve learned that what is “a totally hot, erotic photograph” to one person is “a nice shot” to another. Take a look at our intro slideshow at www.casualelegancephotography.com . What shot would you think has gotten the most comments as being the “totally hot, totally erotic” photo? Go ahead, look at the slideshow first, because I’m about to tell you the answer!
If you guessed the photograph of the woman holding a red rose and wearing red heels, you win the prize! Now maybe it’s because I’m a gal who loves to go barefoot, and when I look at that photo I know those shoes would hurt my feet, but for me it falls in the “nice shot” category, and not the “totally hot, erotic photograph” category. Beautiful photograph yes. Floats my boat? Not so much!
What I can tell you for sure is that at Casual Elegance Photography our goal with boudoir photography is to capture what the client wants their photos to convey, in a soft and sensual, romantic image that they will love. Whether their definition of what they want is hot, sensual, romantic, or erotic, they’ll leave a Casual Elegance photoshoot knowing they got exactly that!
