In my travels today I happened to meet a model who is vacationing at the AL shore. When she saw my camera and my shirt with the Casual Elegance Photography logo, she struck up a conversation. It turned out that she needed some new bikini photos for her portfolio. We ended up planning a bikini photoshoot during the golden hour. Should be fun!

Casual Elegance Photography is on the road this weekend, visiting clients in Alabama. We have some boudoir photoshoots scheduled and are also planning to capture some family portraits on the beach. Along the way we will also be visiting with our Alabama children and grandchildren, and the kids have asked me to do some new child portraits now that the baby is almost 4 months old.

Just finished a wonderful maternity photoshoot at Casual Elegance Photography with a client and Kat Flynt (Makeup Artist). The shoot was a combination of artistic and classic poses. We got some awesome shots and the client agreed to let us use some images on our website and blog (we never use any images on our Blog or our website without written permission because we believe in our client’s privacy – and you know how images can get indexed and stolen on the internet…).

We’ll post a photo on here after the client and I have talked and agreed on the images to use. All I can say now is “WOW” (that was done over our PA system) – they came out great!!!

I’ve been asked by many people what it’s like to photograph nudes. Without hesitation I normally reply that it’s difficult work. Why? In my opinion it’s very easy to correct flaws with clothing on the person. When you shed your clothes you cannot hide flaws (and we all have them I think) like you usually do. So as the photographer you have to be thinking about lighting, angles, body position, and background with every shot. You see the client as the overall goal of the shot and you compose to get the best shot for them – hiding flaws, shadowing and lighting to cover and enhance. I’ve found that at times I have been so caught up in getting the shot that I have run down the battery in my camera and wondered why I can’t take any more shots.

Photographing the nude is work! You need to remember that the client has trusted you to get great images of them in a situation many have never been in before. You have to think of their comfort, respect their wishes, and do all the technical things to get the image they want. It’s work, but I love it – especially when the results are far beyond the client’s expectation!

We’ve done couples Artistic Nudes and couples Romantic Nudes, but we were just asked if we would do Couples Erotic Nudes.  My answer was Yes.  Why not?  If a couple wants to capture their eroticism and love through a professional venue, why wouldn’t I want to help them capture the images.  We do all sorts of Nude images every day and this is something that I feel is needed.  A couple who want’s a safe and beautiful session has only a few choices – do it yourself (not a quality choice) or have a professional shoot them for you.

At Casual Elegance Photography we feel that our clients look to us to give them the images THEY want and to respect their privacy / wishes.  As we have said before, we would NEVER use a client image on our website or our blog without written permission from the client or model.  In fact, we feel that if any photographer does, they shouldn’t be a photographer.  This business (especially the nude part of it) has to have respect for client wishes.

Visit our site and give us a call when you want the finest in Boudoir, Glamour, Art Nude, and Couples Nude Photography!

My high school “gal pal” has headed back to Lancaster PA after an all-too-short visit. It is so funny how you can get together with a good friend after years and years apart, and feel like no time has passed at all.

We were inseperable in high school – even calling each other and talking incessently on the phone as soon as we got home each day, although we had spent the entire day together! But as happens all too often, our lives took us in seperate directions after graduation – she went to college in Pennsylvania, and I went to college in NY. She got engaged to a man from PA, I got engaged to Mark in NY. We were in each other’s weddings, and while Mark and I lived in NY we managed to see each other more often. Mark and I went to Pennsylvania in the fall of 1978 so that they could take us on the “PA tour”. This trip is still one of my favorite vacation memories in the “before kids” phase of our lives. We met in Philadelphia and started our vacation there, touring the city which gave Mark some tremendous “photo opps” including one of my all time favorite pics of an elderly gentleman sitting on a bench and playing a beautiful old violin, at the National Historical Park. From there we visited Valley Forge National Historical Park which was not only interesting, but gorgeous framed with autumn colors. From there we travelled through Lancaster County to do some antiquing, and then for fun headed up to Hershey. My memories involve a lot of laughing and a lot of eating!

We talked about that trip during her visit – and shook our heads in disbelief that here we are now, each in our 50’s, with two grown kids each, five grandkids for me, and one for her. The last time she was here Dave had just graduated from high school! She was interested to see Mark’s studio after hearing about it for the past 8 years – knowing it had always been his dream. Hers was the first wedding that Mark ever shot – more than 35 years ago! So it felt like coming full circle when she invited us to come visit PA again soon, and have Mark photograph her grandson! Where does the time go??
