Many clients ask what’s the difference between artistic and glamour nudes. My answer is simple. Artistic nudes concentrate on the form and figure – a celebration of the human body, while glamour nudes are more of an expression of sensuality and romance. When you think of artistic nudes, think about the great sculptures and the images that you feel express the beauty of the human body. For instance this image:

It’s a wonderful example of the simplicity of an artistic nude that leaves the viewer with a feeling of beauty. And when you think of a glamour nude, think of images that may be seen in a magazine where the viewer feels there is a sensual element to the image. For example, this image:

I realize the model in the image is not nude, but I’m sure that you get the idea without my post being reported to anyone. 🙂

My clients often want a combination of both. We typically start with the Art Nudes and then the Glamour Nudes, and then perhaps Boudoir to get a good variety of images to choose from.

I hope that this explanation helps you decide what images you would like to capture. Give us a call today and make an appointment for your photo session!

I really love it when a client gets totally into a shoot. Yesterday’s shoot was great! The client came in with a wonderful attitude that allowed her to get completely into the shoot. She had ideas of poses that she wanted to do, was fully comfortable in her skin, and was a joy to work with.

Many times clients come in and are very nervous about being nude in the studio. BUT… every client so far has had a great time and their nerves have eased up very quickly. Once they see their images appear on the computer monitor and see how great they look, the get into the shoot and we get great images. AND… at the end of the shoot they are always surprised on how their initial feelings changed so quickly and how they really enjoyed the shoot.

So, please read our client testimonials and reviews. You may find your feelings in them and perhaps ease your fears so that you can come into Casual Elegance Photography and get your nude images taken! You know that it’s on your bucket list so why not do it now.

Worked with a wonderful client today and got some great images. She wanted Boudoir images but ended up doing a few lightly fetish shots as well (think artistic rope). I really appreciate it when the client is just so natural and easy to work with. It makes my job so much more enjoyable and we can quickly get all the shots they want. Actually, almost all of my clients have been great to work with!

Over the next few days I have a couple of interesting shoots coming up. I’ll be doing a location shoot with a lady who wants to shoot with some cars, a model who wants to update her portfolio, a body paint shoot, and a couples nude shoot. It’s nice to be busy, but it’s nicer to be working with great clients.

This past week I did a photo shoot with a male client who wanted some classy classic artistic nudes that he could have framed (or wrapped) for his home. In the planning stages we discussed the several options for shots and he decided on creating images where we were recreating some well known sculptures. I’ve done this type of shoot before and even have a few of them on my site of models I have worked with. Since I don’t use client images (unless they sign a release to do so) I am sometimes limited in what I can show perspective clients so that they can get an idea of what the shots might look like.

We decided on 3 different poses that would give him the 3 prints that he wanted. All three will be turned into Black & White, and all three were shot on a black backdrop with the use of one or two lights. One of the poses was “The Thinker” by Rodin. Below is a sample of a model I shot back awhile ago in the same pose. The client’s pose was actually better in several ways because he had studied the pose before the shoot. I was amazed that we got the perfect image on the very first frame we shot! Pose, lighting, angle, exposure – all the photo gods were in sync and we got a fabulous shot!

It’s true that most of our sessions revolve around special occasions during the year. Valentine’s Day, Christmas, Birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, etc. But we also have clients, both women and men, come in for a shoot just because they want to feel good about themselves. Sometimes they will say it’s for their significant other, but then they say that it’s also for themselves. They’ve worked hard for the look they now have and want to celebrate it by capturing it forever. An Artistic Nude or Intimate photo session is a great way to capture the hard work and beauty of their body. Over the past few weeks we have had several “just for me” photo shoots. I’ve worked with people who just want to do the shoot to check it off their “bucket list” and I’ve worked with people who have been working out hard to get a great body. The common theme for the shoots has been “I am doing this for myself, but my (significant other) will enjoy the results too”.

At Casual Elegance Photography we encourage you to feel good about yourself, and we try to show you how great you really look!!! From beginning to end, our sessions are both relaxed and exciting. We shoot directly to the computer so you see the shots as we shoot them, and we work diligently to get images that have a “wow” factor. When you finish your session we want you to be walking tall and all encouraged about how great you look.

Treat yourself (or your significant other) to a wonderful experience. Call today to make an appointment for an artistic nude or Intimate Photo Session!

While most of my clients are female, there seems to be an increase in the number of males who are coming in for nude images. Most have said that their wives have done a Boudoir shoot for them and this is their chance to do the same thing for their wives. Others have said that they are in the best shape of their lives and want to capture it forever.

Typically the male nude images that we shoot are mainly artistic nudes with a lot of shadows and highlights – very cool in black and white. But I have also shot male “Dude-oir” shots too. These shots are similar to what used to be in Playgirl Magazine – sort of a “Boudoir Style” with a masculine pose to them. The main goal is to capture the male physique in a romantic setting that will pull the viewer into the scene. The difficult part is to make the image sensual and not reveal too much – playing on the imagination of the viewer. In my experience, unlike their female counterparts, males are not used to posing for sensual shots (they do really well at the art nudes though) so it takes a little more coaching and shooting to get those knock down awesome “Dude-oir” shots.

Photography Tip: A good shoot plan is a key aspect to getting the most out of the session. Have images in mind prior to the shoot, have a list of the shots ready to follow, and take the time necessary to get the desired shots. It works well to keep the shoot on track and to make sure that nothing is missed in the course of the session. My shoot yesterday was a good example. The client and I met several weeks ahead of the shoot and went over his ideas as well as discussing the overall shoot process. We communicated via email many times since just to be sure we were both on the same page. Then I build a shoot plan based on what the client wanted and knowing how it would flow in the studio. On the day of the shoot it was easy to follow the plan, get the shots, and stay on time throughout the session. This resulted in getting the images the client wanted to get as a present for his wife (and himself).

One thing I get a lot of requests for are headshots, but in the past few months I have been getting requests for body shots in addition to head shots. I think it’s because there are more and more contests coming to town. The clients want to submit images to the contest in hopes of getting picked and a head shot is only half of what they need. So I’ve been modifying my headshot package to include one headshot and one body shot under the standard pricing. I try to be sensitive to client needs and want to earn their business.

Lately, in addition, there have been several request for “simply sexy” shots. Basically non-nude sexy shots for dating sites and social media sites. I always enjoy these shoots because I love the way the clients have fun in the shoots. I’ve had clients do a winter theme in the summer, summer themes in the winter, and just plain fun themes all year round. It a pleasure to work in this fun environment! 🙂
