Last Minute Holiday Photos

I’ve always waited until Christmas eve to go shopping for Christmas gifts for my wife so I do understand about waiting until the last minute. This year has been crazy busy with clients waiting until the last minute to get photos done for Christmas. I have shoots through Wednesday for clients who need photos ready by Friday. Fortunately they all want the final images on a CD so they can print them out themselves, otherwise they would not have prints in time.

The “after shoot” process takes time – an average of 15 days. First the client has to select the images they want edited and prints made of. The images are ready for selection usually within 24 hours after the shoot. The time it takes the client to select the images can vary widely. Once the images are selected and I receive their list it can take me between 1 and 3 days to complete the edits and get the images ready for approval by the client. The client then has to get back to me with their approval before I send the to the lab for printing. After I send them to the lab, it can take from 3 – 10 days for the prints to be ready. I contact the client once the prints are in my hands and we then set up a time/date to pick them up. As I said, the whole process takes a bit of time to complete.

So… it’s always better to plan a little early than to wait to the last minute. 🙂 And that reminds me, VALENTINE’S DAY IS ONLY 57 DAYS AWAY! 🙂 Plan early to get those sexy photos done!

Edits, edits, and more edits!

Today was an edits day. Several clients picked their images and I always try to get the edits done as quickly as possible for them. Most edits are just minor corrections to the levels and color balance, but other edits can take a bit of time to do them correctly. I try to only edit what could be fixed with additional makeup and not make the person look like plastic. I typically work at 200 to 300 percent so I can see every little detail and correct ones as I need to.

I wanted to be sure to get these edits done quickly because one of the clients wants to have the images ready for Christmas and she has to find the perfect album, put the images in, and have it wrapped well ahead of time. 🙂 I am sure he will LOVE this album!!! Awesome shots!!!!

Every day brings something new!

As I was in between shoots the other day I started thinking about the different venues of nudes that my clients ask for.  It was the Glamour Nude day (here is that cycle thing again).  My first shoot was a bride who wants to give her groom a special gift for their wedding.  She brought her wedding dress and accessories and she did a “strip-tease” for the session.  She ended up totally nude for the final shots and will present the album to her husband on their wedding night.

My second shoot wass a Glamour Nude session with a woman as a 20th anniversary present for her husband.  After 20 years she said that she “finally got up the courage” to do a shoot for him.  But, she told him that if she does the shoot then he has to do one for her! I’ll be waiting for THAT phone call… LOL.
